Adding flair to the home can be as simple as making very minor adjustments to the furniture pieces already present in the home.

Some homeowners think they have to totally revamp their living spaces when it comes to changing the interior design and adding some spice to their home. They want to change the cabinetry up a bit, invest in some new hardwood floors, paint the walls bold colors and even buy completely new furniture. However, adding flair to the home can be as simple as making very minor adjustments to the furniture pieces already present in the home. One of the easiest ways to add character to the home is with the addition of decorative hardware. It takes a screwdriver and a couple nails to secure the hardware in place and voila, instant flair!

Decorative Hardware

Decorative hardware comes in a variety of shapes, styles, sizes and colors and can adorn doors, curtain rods and cabinetry. Decorative hardware can be made from a myriad of materials, including wood, silver, brass, aluminum and others. This type of ornamental hardware also comes in styles to suit any preference, including English and French designs, Victorian, Asian inspired and modern looks. However the chosen living room, bedroom or bathroom is designed, there will be most certainly a type of hardware to complement. Simply pick out a drawer pull, door knob or beautifully design door latch and screw it on in its appropriate place. And with a matter of minutes, the chosen door, cabinetry or other piece of furniture will have instantly transformed to a better looking part of the home.

Curtain Rods, Décor, and Custom Door Hardware

Curtain rods, décor, and custom door hardware are another easy way to add flair to the home. Standard curtain tie backs and rods come with pretty boring details. Some would say that when it comes to curtain décor, the curtain rod matters just as much as the drapery that hangs from it. The drapery hardware frames the drapes so it is important to find an equally beautiful hardware set to complement. Just like fabric drapes come in a variety of colors and styles, so do the hardware that it can be matched with. Some popular styles include floral inspired hold back curtain rods, antique and contemporary hold backs made from brass, wood, colored stone or silver and delicate crystal hardware pieces to create a regal look to the drapery.

The actual curtain rod design is another item that could add flair to the home. Standard curtain rods usually come in one style and are painted white or remain with a silver appeal to them. However, there are some decorative hardware studios that carry curtain rods that are highly detailed. Keep the options open when it comes to decorating and look for curtain rods that match the complementary décor in brass, silver or other types of metals.

The options are endless when it comes to choosing what type of hardware would work best with a given living space. Determine personal aesthetic when it comes to minor details and make sure that the hardware speaks for itself based on the high-quality craftsmanship it uses. Whatever the style of the room, there will surely be a type of decorative hardware to match accordingly.
